Overview

Scotland offers some of the most stunning landscapes and diverse wildlife in Europe. From the majestic Cairngorms to the rugged Isle of Skye, and the rich marine life around the Isle of Mull, this tour is designed for avid wildlife photographers who want to capture Scotland’s natural beauty. Key wildlife includes red squirrels, golden and white-tailed eagles, otters, puffins, red deer, dolphins, and more.


ITINERARY

Day 1: Arrival in Edinburgh - Cairngorms National Park Upon arrival in Edinburgh, you'll meet your guide and fellow guests before setting off towards Cairngorms National Park. As we travel north, you will enjoy the stunning Scottish landscape. After checking in at our hotel, we will explore Rothiemurchus Estate and Loch Garten, perfect spots for photographing red squirrels, ospreys, red deer, and golden eagles. A picnic lunch will be provided.

Day 2: Cairngorms National Park

After breakfast at the The Boat Hotel, we'll embark on an early morning bird-watching tour with a local ranger, focusing on red squirrels and ospreys. A packed lunch will be provided for our continued exploration in the afternoon, where we'll look for red deer and golden eagles.

Day 3: Cairngorms to Isle of Mull

We start the day with breakfast at The Boat Hotel, then drive through the scenic Highlands to Oban, where we'll take a ferry to the Isle of Mull. During the crossing, keep an eye out for seabirds and marine life. Upon arrival, we'll check into the Western Isles Hotel and enjoy a packed lunch. In the evening, we'll have an opportunity for wildlife spotting, focusing on otters and white-tailed eagles.

Day 4: Isle of Mull

Following breakfast at the hotel, we'll embark on a guided wildlife tour, exploring Mull's diverse habitats and photographing otters and white-tailed eagles. A packed lunch will be provided. In the afternoon, we'll visit Loch Na Keal and Calgary Bay, where we may see puffins (seasonal). We will spend the night at the Western Isles Hotel.

Day 5: Isle of Mull - Fingal's Cave

After breakfast at the Western Isles Hotel, we will take a boat trip to Fingal's Cave on the uninhabited island of Staffa, known for its unique geological formations and wildlife spotting opportunities, including puffins (seasonal) and seabirds. A packed lunch will be provided. In the late afternoon, we will return to Mull to the Western Isles Hotel.

Day 6: Isle of Mull to Isle of Skye

After breakfast at the Western Isles Hotel, we take a ferry back to the mainland and travel to the Isle of Skye. We will have a packed lunch en route. On Skye, we'll explore the Quiraing and Neist Point, photographing golden eagles, red deer, and otters. We’ll spend the night at the Skeabost House Hotel.

Day 7: Isle of Skye

Breakfast will be at the Skeabost House Hotel, followed by a marine wildlife tour, offering opportunities to photograph dolphins, seals, and seabirds. A packed lunch will be provided. In the afternoon, we'll visit the Fairy Pools and Old Man of Storr for additional photography opportunities. We will stay overnight at the Skeabost House Hotel.

Day 8: Isle of Skye to Edinburgh

After breakfast at the Skeabost Hotel, we will travel back to Edinburgh. On our way, we'll stop at a renowned distillery for a whisky tasting experience. After the tasting and a packed lunch, we will continue our journey back to Edinburgh, arriving in the late afternoon. The tour concludes with our arrival in Edinburgh, where we will drop you off at a central location.

Reservations and payments

  • Deposit: 30% of the tour price upon reservation.

  • Final Payment: Due 30 days before departure.

  • Payment Methods: Bank transfer.


Cancellation policy

A deposit of 30% of the total cost is applied if the booking is made more than 30 days before the trip. For the bookings made less than 30 days before the trip, the price is charged in full amount.

The following penalties will be applied if the trip is canceled by the traveler:

  • 31 or more days before the trip: No penalty. Deposit returned.

  • 15-30 days before the trip: Loss of deposit

  • 3-14 days before the trip : 50% of total trip cost

  • 0-3 days before the trip: 75% of the total trip cost

If the cancellation is made by the company, all payments will be refunded.

The payments for this tour are made through DMC Highlands meaning you have the financial protection of booking through a registered tour operator.
